Originating from Toronto, Ontario, Tomacco is a high energy, funky rock and roll band that creates music to help you cut loose and party hard. They have a unique but catchy sound, and each song has its own exciting flavor. The band’s music is inspired by life experiences; both difficult and amazing, and from observations of the world around them. The messages like love, perseverance and self doubt are universal but the music is a unique blend of numerous influences from bands such as; Parliament Funkadelic, Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin and more recently; The Alabama Shakes, The Foals and the Strokes. Tomacco is sure to get you up on your feet.
Tomacco has been involved with the Toronto music scene since 2016, and has been rocking it ever since. With numerous performances at venues such as; The Horseshoe Tavern, Lee’s Palace and Rivioli. Tomacco knows how to put on an addictive and entertaining show. This wild band consists of Denny Copf as songwriter, guitarist, vocalist and saxophonist, Charlie Ziegler on synth, Jessie Taynton on bass and Jesse Shafer on drums. For special occasions Cassie Bachner and Sappho Hansen Smythe perform as the band’s angelic duo of backup vocals.
In early 2018 Tomacco released their first 5 song self titled EP. This EP was written and recorded by Denny Copf during his time in Seneca’s Independent Music Production program. In Sept 2019 Tomacco released their 2nd EP called Vagabond. Recorded live off the floor at Voodoo Records with the vocals, saxophone and guitar solos recorded at the Sonic Spa by Jon Mychal.
